Import Game
En Parlant~ gives you several ways to bring games in for study: open files from your computer, paste notation from the clipboard, or pull games directly from your Lichess or Chess.com account.
PGN File Import
Section titled “PGN File Import”Open PGN files stored on your computer. You can do this two ways:
- File > Open from the menu bar
- Click the Import Game card on the home screen
Both methods open a file picker where you select one or more .pgn files. Multi-game PGN files are supported — if a file contains several games, you can choose which one to load.
Paste PGN Text
Section titled “Paste PGN Text”If you have game notation copied to your clipboard (from a website, a message, or another app), you can paste it directly into En Parlant~ without saving a file first. Open the Import Game card and use the paste option to drop in the raw PGN text.
Lichess Import
Section titled “Lichess Import”Link your Lichess account to browse and import your games without leaving the app.
- Open the User menu (top right)
- Select Link Lichess Account and follow the authentication steps
- Once linked, the Import Game card shows your recent Lichess games
- Select any game to open it in the analysis board
Chess.com Import
Section titled “Chess.com Import”Link your Chess.com account the same way:
- Open the User menu
- Select Link Chess.com Account and authenticate
- Browse your Chess.com game history from the Import Game card
- Select a game to open it for analysis
Supported Formats
Section titled “Supported Formats”En Parlant~ reads standard PGN (Portable Game Notation), the universal format for recording chess games. This includes:
- Single-game PGN files
- Multi-game PGN files (archives, tournament collections)
- PGN files with annotations, comments, and variations
After Importing
Section titled “After Importing”Once a game is imported, it opens in the analysis board. From there you can:
- Step through moves with arrow keys or the move list
- Annotate — add your own comments and evaluation symbols
- Run engine analysis — let Stockfish or another engine evaluate positions
- Hear TTS narration — listen to annotations spoken aloud (if TTS is configured)
- Review variations — explore alternate lines and compare them to the game
Saving Games
Section titled “Saving Games”After studying or annotating a game, you can save it back to a PGN file for later. Your annotations, comments, and engine evaluations are preserved in the exported file — pick up right where you left off next time.
